Margaret Lane <br /> Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br /> RE: Agreement between Summit Design and Engineering Services, PLLC and Orange <br /> County for the Design, Engineering Consulting, and Construction Administration <br /> Services for John M Link, Jr. Government Services Center Building Waterproofing <br /> Subject: Item 9 of Agreement: Change in Basic Services <br /> Mr. Thompson, <br /> This letter serves to notify Orange County of a Change in Basic Services for the agreements between <br /> Orange County and Summit Design and Engineering Services, PLLC for the Design. Enclineerinq <br /> Consulting, and Construction Administration Services for John M Link. Jr. Government Services Center <br /> Building Waterproofing. According to the original agreement, any services requested in writing by the <br /> County in addition to the 'Basic Services' shall be evidenced by a written amendment to the Agreement. <br /> In the letter sent by Mr. Jeffrey E. Thompson to Mr. James Parker dated August 161", 2018, there are <br /> several services requested beyond the `Basic Services' of the Agreement. These additional services <br /> include: <br /> - Item 2: The revised) design being prepared by Mr. Pruitt should) be endorsed by a credentialed <br /> safety professional employed or contracted by Summit to ensure compliance with OSHA Safety <br /> Standards. The site should also be inspected by that same individual once the shoring system is <br /> installed and once per week until the backfiliing phase of the project is complete. <br /> - Item 3: Site inspections should be completed regularly which include but are not limited to: <br /> supervision of daily on-site job start inspections and documentation of site conditions, assurance <br /> of the OSHA defined Competent Person being present, and general safety reviews in conjunction <br /> with the General Contractor- <br /> - Item 4: At least two on-site job visits by Summit's Construction Administrator each project day <br /> with written documentation of those visits emailed to the authorized County representative (one of <br /> which could be the daily job start inspection). <br /> - Item 5: The Formal management and documentation of weekly project stakeholder updates <br /> throughout the project (could be held in conjunction with the daily on-site job start inspection). <br /> In addition to the services requested in writing by Orange County, the verbal requests by Orange County <br /> for the Construction Administrator to conduct the Preconstruction Meeting, Weekly Progress Meetings, <br /> and for conference calls including documentation of said conference calls by the Construction <br /> Administrator are beyond the original 'Basic Services' agreed upon. <br />
