53
Improving Project Collaboration Opportunities
Orange County Economic Development's staff recognizes the importance of maintaining a
positive &productive working relationship with our towns' professional economic developers,
planners &tourism leaders in Carrboro, Hillsborough & Chapel Hill. County staff strives to a
have a mutually beneficially dialog with all agencies, and, cooperation in the sharing of
information, talent and participation of all groups. At the staff working level, there is good
comradery and trust among the groups.
There are many examples of successful joint partnerships the County's & Towns' economic
development endeavors, and much of the County's level of collaboration on major projects is
tied to the availability of Article 46 funding. Our mutual County&Towns efforts include the
promotion of the arts, tourism, business retention and recruitment, entrepreneurial development,
and agriculture/food processing. Interpersonal working relationships are considered to be
positive and effective, and efforts to further strengthen the collaboration among all staff are
ongoing.
Please refer to Attachment 4—C (slides 14—21) for detailed examples of Orange County's
economic development activity pursued in tandem with the 3 Towns, and, on behalf of all
County residents.
