OPT Short Range Transit Plan

Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, Inc. | A-8

PHASE II OUTREACH
Help us identify how we might transform our system in the future. Pick the top five improvements you’d like
us to focus on. (Comments)
The Hillsborough Circulator is rushed. The Orange-Chapel Hill Midday Connector should have a sign at Sportsplex.
The Orange-Alamance Connector needs more riders.
Add bike racks on all buses.
I want more hours on the Hillsborough Circulator.
I want more hours on the Hillsborough Connector.
Stop at BK, in front of Home Depot! Thank you!
Add Bentley Wood stop to replace the Timbers stop.
A bus from Hillsborough to Chapel Hill would more than double the employment and entertainment opportunities for
residents. Each of the other connectors would increase options significantly. But my highest priorities aren't included
on the list: night and weekend service between Hillsborough and Chapel Hill, and increased bus frequency between
Hillsborough and Chapel Hill. Hillsborough's a lovely town but it doesn't offer any entertainment for kids and teens
who can't drive, and Chapel Hill is inaccessible during the hours they have free, likewise employment options are
severely curtailed if one can only work narrow weekday hours. In the absence of affordable housing in Chapel Hill
increased bus service would help keep more young and old people independent.
I keep tooting your horn in hopes that Chapel Hill Transit will get a wiff of what your cooking. Chapel Hill transit feels
that those of us without vehicle's don't need to go to church on Sunday's.; I have been singing the praises of OPT
for a while now. It's not so much that I need the transportation, I do. But I really enjoy the ride. You have great
accommodating staff. Wish you ran on the weekends.
Please consider making connections between the circulator and the 420 and ODX route. This would mean running
the circulator earlier and later to make connections with the 420 and ODX.
The zone and community van programs help make transit more accessible while allowing focus on efficient routes.
I would like to see the improved transportation timing so that if a commuter missed the Go Triangle/PART bus in
Mebane, they could catch the O-A connector and Hillsborouh Circulator to get to the Go Triangle stop at DTCC
Hillsborough Campus.
