OPT Short Range Transit Plan

Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates, Inc. | 5-7

Orange-Alamance Connector
The Orange-Alamance Connector is a fixed-route service operating along US-70 between Mebane,
Efland, and Hillsborough. The existing Orange-Alamance Connector route currently operates
every 60 minutes between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday-Friday and provides westbound
service on US-70 and eastbound service on I-40. Additional information about alignment
modifications proposed for the existing Orange-Alamance Connector can be found in the change
sheets in Appendix B.
This route would be improved to provide bi-directional service on US-70 operating every 60
minutes from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Expanding the hours of service on
this route will help coordinate with recommended changes to GoTriangle Route ODX, which
proposes to realign service to use I-85 and I-40 instead of US-70. This route would provide access
to Alamance County residents via the Mebane Cone Health Park-and-Ride, provide all-day service
to Efland, and would have a total estimated annual cost of $189,000.
Figure 5-5 Orange-Alamance Connector
