Benedict, AICPA, Planning Director <br />Tom Altieri, Supervisor, Comprehensive Planning <br />RE: Comprehensive Plan Land Use Element Update <br />Reconfirmation of Goals <br />DATE: September 2, 2004 <br />ATT: Survey <br />CC: Geoffrey Gledhill, County Attorney <br />At the August 23, 2004 County Commissioner (BOCC) /Planning Board joint work <br />session, there was a discussion regarding 'reanchoring' the various goals associated <br />with the Comprehensive Plan, The Comprehensive Plan Land Use Element (CPLUE) <br />process has been an extended process of: <br />1. Research, <br />2. Analysis, <br />3. Identification of growth management challenges, <br />4. Scenario development, <br />5, Multi- disciplinary committee review and comment, and <br />6. Countywide outreach and incremental updates to the Planning Board and the <br />County Commissioners (BOCC). <br />Since there have been a few years since the first presentation regarding the CPLUE <br />update process in October 1999, the BOCC identified at its August 23, 2004 work <br />session that it is prudent to reflect upon and reinforce the guiding principles and goals <br />underlying the direction of the land use plan and proposals that will promote <br />sustainability in Orange County, <br />G:\Administna ve Div\ShcrrXmi9\Link Lettem\BOCC LUE 9 -2 -04 doc <br />
