The EIE also discussed various alternatives at the County ' s disposal for dissemination of <br /> information and compiled the following list : <br /> Speakers bureau for church civic group and other meetings <br /> Booth presence at County festivals : Apple Chill, Hog Day, October Moon, Festifall <br /> and Fiesta del Pueblo <br /> • Greater use of the County website with links to other pertinent sites <br /> Email broadcasts <br /> Other County departmental (e . g . Environmental Health) , and in some cases non- <br /> County, direct mailings as ride alongs <br /> • Flyers and literature at sympathetic area businesses such as real estate offices , banks , <br /> home improvement and grocery stores , and stores selling camping and outdoor <br /> recreation equipment <br /> • Attachments to lenders ' documents on home loans <br /> • Monthly press releases to newspapers (perhaps written by ERC interns) <br /> • Solicitation of donated or discounted printing, advertisements , radio PSAs and other <br /> public relations resources that do not rely on 100 % County taxpayer funding for the <br /> above efforts . <br /> Environmental Heroes award program to recognize individuals , businesses and <br /> organizations that further the County ' s environmental objectives <br /> Status <br /> EIE is continuing to review materials currently available to assess the need for further <br /> information and alternatives for increasing distribution . <br /> Plans for 2002 <br /> Over the next year the EIE Committee will develop a proposal for a public education and <br /> public relations campaign for the County to consider and implement . Its goal will be to <br /> better inform citizens as well as visitors and workers with out- of- County residences on <br /> environmental issues of concern to County leaders .
