Objective 4 : Improved coordination of Orange County' s protection efforts with those of <br /> the surrounding counties . <br /> Activities and Progress During 2000/2001 <br /> • The BRC and ERCD participated heavily in the development of a " Triangle <br /> Greenprint " - - an effort being coordinated by the Triangle J Council of <br /> Governments , Triangle Land Conservancy and NC Division of Parks and <br /> Recreation to develop a plan for developing a coordinated network of protected <br /> open space in the six - county Triangle region . [ Includes Orange, Chatham, <br /> Durham Counties ; does not include Alamance, Caswell, Person Counties . ] <br /> • The CFE and ERCD continued their participation on the New Hope Creek <br /> Corridor Advisory Committee to help coordinate Orange and Durham County <br /> efforts to protect and enhance open space in New Hope Creek corridor . <br /> • ERCD participated in Durham County' s development of a new Little River Open <br /> Space Plan . <br /> Status <br /> • The CFE and ERCD continue to participate in these regional natural resource <br /> protection efforts . <br /> Plans for 2002 to Address the Goal <br /> • The proposed Triangle Greenprint will be presented to the CFE and Orange <br /> County BOCC in early 2002 to receive formal County feedback and endorsement <br /> of the plan . <br /> • The CFE intends to meet with the Durham Open Space and Trails Commission to <br /> discuss resource protection issues of mutual interest [postponed from 2000/01 ] <br /> and with similar, like-minded advisory boards from other neighboring <br /> jurisdictions where they exist . <br /> 13 <br />
