7 <br /> Resolution <br /> Orange Coutity Commlission for the Environment <br /> WHEREAS , Orange County and the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro are <br /> communkiles that take great pride in their awareness ' and interest In <br /> enviro n w entil protection at the local , State, rational and global levels , and <br /> W H E REAS , the Cournty received information isboutthe IntemationaI Council for <br /> Local Environmental Initiatives ( ICLEI ) and the Cities / Counties for Climate <br /> Protection Program earlier this year , and <br /> WHEREAS , the Board of Counter Commissioners on Navember 20 will receive a <br /> report regarding the potential for Joining these programs , and <br /> HEREA , the Town of Chapel Hill ' s resolution regarding joint efforts toward a <br /> County emissions inventory is consistent with tl� � � rnr� issic� n ' s interests and <br /> goals , and offers an excellent opportunity for Chapel Hill , Carrboro , and the <br /> County to work together on important issues that affect the environment and our <br /> quslity of life : <br /> NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED that the Commission for the <br /> Environment recommends that the Board of Commissioners agree to become a <br /> member of I LEI and the itiesl oundes for Climate Protection Program in July <br /> 2002 , and recommends that the County work with Chapel Mill and arrboro to <br /> develop an emissions inventory as an important stop in protecting our natural <br /> re � o �, r� es , <br /> This , the 12 "' day of November, 2001 <br /> tJ ul o Ti ceker , Cha it <br /> ornm i ssion for the Envuonmejat <br /> ATTEST <br /> Carol C .
