Call to Order <br /> Chair Fortmann called meeting to order at 7 : 30 p . m . <br /> II . Additions to the Agenda <br /> There were no changes or additions to the agenda . <br /> III . Approval of Minutes ( August 12 , 2002 ) <br /> MOTION : Randall motioned to approve the August 12th minutes . Seconded by <br /> Whisnant . <br /> VOTE : Unanimous . <br /> Fortmann suggested that the CFE receive the staff updates ( Item # VI ) following the <br /> State of the Environment discussion and prior to the committee breakout session . <br /> IV . State of the Environment 2002 <br /> Decker reviewed information that he prepared for developing the State of the <br /> Environment ( SOE ) report . He handed out a revised format that he prepared after <br /> meeting with Fortmann and Crisler . An " overview of county " with demographic <br /> data was added to the Introduction . Decker 's information also included a revised <br /> list of environmental indicators . Instead of having large amounts of text for the Air <br /> Quality indicators , the revised format presents the indicators one by one . <br /> The CFE discussed whether to use up/ down arrows or grades to indicate whether <br /> there are positive or negative trends for the indicators reported . Members <br /> discussed the merits of both methods , but favored using arrows whenever <br /> applicable to show the county is or is not making progress toward desirable goals . <br /> Decker reviewed a list of " Potential 2002 SOE Report Objectives " attached to his <br /> handout , which he gleaned from the 2000 SOE Report .
