E <br /> VII . Timber Harvesting Information Session <br /> The CfE discussed a variety of possible ways to publicize the November <br /> timber harvest panel meeting , including press releases , newspaper articles , <br /> flyers and direct mailings to large landowners , forest owners , farmers , <br /> conservation - minded people and others . Rafalow agreed to draft a letter and <br /> circulate via email to CfE members . Stancil reviewed the agenda for <br /> November 28th meeting . Item # 5 on the agenda (" Next Steps - Follow - up ") <br /> was discussed as being significant . Stancil asked if a couple of members <br /> would be willing to meet with panelists and work with staff on publicity , <br /> holding a ' dress - rehearsal " and developing follow - up information in early <br /> November . Tucker agreed to assist on the details for the session . It was <br /> recommended that the CfE invite Andy Sachs to the November meeting to <br /> help prepare for the meeting . <br /> VIII . Updates <br /> a . AFLEV Work Group — Stancil reported that the AFLEV is currently <br /> looking at a draft report . The work group report will go to the BOCC late <br /> November or early December with recommendation on pursuing a mobile <br /> source emission reduction grant in December 2000 . The work group is <br /> looking at several vehicles on the county 's vehicle replacement list for <br /> possible candidates of alternative vehicles , either compressed natural gas , <br /> bi - fuel or electric vehicles . <br /> b . Sustainability — Consultant Pam McIntosh is working on developing <br /> measures for 44 indicators of " sustainability " developed the Shaping <br /> Orange County 's Task Force group and giving ERCD a sense of where <br /> we ' re moving toward sustainability goals using the measurable indicators . <br /> She will be available to meet with the EIE Committee or the CfE to discuss <br /> her work in October . <br /> c . Shaping Orange County 's Future — Provisional Report went to County <br /> public hearing on August 28th , however no action taken to date by BOCC . <br /> It may be November before the BOCC refers the SOCF recommendations <br /> to advisory boards for review and comment . The Assembly of <br /> Governments meeting has been set for January 29th <br /> d . Natural Areas and Open Space Element — Rich Shaw has been <br /> working on the Natural Areas and Open Space Element and plans to meet <br /> with the Biological Resource group before the October meeting .
