MEMORANDUM <br /> To : Commission for the Environment , Air Quality Committee <br /> From : Marc deBree , ERCD Intern <br /> CC : Dave Stancil , Kris Price , Bill Glaze <br /> Re : Questions about Orange County transportation planning <br /> Date : June 7 , 2000 <br /> Attached is a narrative statement regarding questions that were asked by the Commission for the <br /> Environment , Air Quality Committee members in their April 18 , 2000 memorandum to Dave <br /> Stancil (a copy of that memo is included in this mailing) . I have prepared this document in <br /> consultation with Karen Lincoln, Transportation Planner for Orange County. Further questions <br /> should be directed to her . <br /> Below is a list of the questions (excerpted from the original memo ) that have been addressed . <br /> • Does the County have a current Transportation Plan? <br /> • Does the County have a long-range Transportation Plan? <br /> • What is the current focus of work in the Orange County Planning Department with <br /> respect to transportation planning ? <br /> • What demographic and transportation data are available for planning in the County? <br /> • What transportation issues has the Department identified as most important for Orange <br /> County? <br /> • What parameters/issues drive transportation planning in Orange County — traffic <br /> management, road construction , road maintenance , air quality, quality of life , or others ? <br /> • With respect to the issues and recommendations cited above , what is the County doing <br /> with regard to regional transportation planning ? <br /> • What is the County ' s involvement in regional transportation planning organizations such <br /> as the Triangle Transit Authority? (TTA) <br /> • What is the direction of transportation planning in Orange County? What is the County ' s <br /> stand on mass transit, car-pooling, bicycles , etc ? <br />
