The Little River Gorge 4needs particular <br /> protection , both from development and from the unregulated and heavy human use of this area - <br /> - piles of trash , campfires , latrines , and extensive trails form a stark contrast to the beautiful <br /> scenery at this site . <br /> Protection should also be sought for a continuous corridor of woodlands along the river <br /> both up and . downstream from the gorge . Wherever possible , low density or carefully sited <br /> cluster development should be favored on the uplands in this region over indiscriminate , high <br /> density development , particularly where large tracts of forest would be affected . g <br /> 216 <br />
