5 <br /> ■ The diversity of public and private interests that are involved in decision - making <br /> ■ The need for timely notification and rapid action in advising the local <br /> governments on development proposals <br /> ■ And the importance of transportation in affecting natural features <br /> Finally , Healy said the New Hope Creek Corridor Advisory Committee urges groups <br /> like the CfE to help plan for growth in the entire area affecting the New Hope . <br /> Healy then answered questions from CfE members . It was noted that a joint <br /> meeting of the CfE with either Durham 's Open Space & Trails Commission or <br /> Environmental Commission is being planned for early 2001 . Healy invited the CfE to <br /> visit the New Hope Creek Advisory committee meetings . <br /> VIL Timber Harvesting Techniques Information Session <br /> Stancil reported on the planning for the Timber Harvesting Information Session , <br /> scheduled for October 5th at 7pm in SHSC conference room A . He reviewed the <br /> draft agenda : <br /> ■ Senator Eleanor Kinnaird will be asked to open the meeting and provide an <br /> overview of the issues of concern . <br /> ■ Andy Sachs has agreed to serve as moderator . He will explain the ground rules <br /> for the session and ask panelists to discuss timber harvesting methods and <br /> alternatives to clear- cutting . A one - page mission statement will be prepared . <br /> ■ Panel of approximately 45 minutes with each panelist limited to five minutes to <br /> address what they see as the most important issues related to timber harvesting <br /> techniques . Panel to include Judson Edeburn , Rick Hamilton , Dan Richter and <br /> Rich Ducker . <br /> ■ A question and answer session of approximately 20 minutes . <br /> ■ Discussion of possible follow - up and future meetings . <br /> ■ Close with mingling . <br /> CfE members offered further suggestions , including . <br /> 0 Adding another panel member involved with advising landowners of their options <br /> for harvesting their timber , Dan Gelbert, Barney Barnard , and Dan Edwards ; <br /> 0 Making additional forest resources information available at the session , such as <br /> how can the average citizen find out about individual timbering issues ; <br /> 0 Providing information on who citizens may call if they want to report suspected <br /> environmental damaging timbering concerns ; <br /> DRAFT CFE 8/ 14/00 Minutes Page 5 of 6 <br />
