Commission for the Environment <br /> From : David Stancil , Environment and Resource Conservation Director <br /> Rich Shaw , Land Conservation Manager <br /> Date : October 3 , 2001 <br /> Re : Lands Legacy Action Plan for 2002 - 2003 <br /> Once again , it is time to begin the process of developing next year 's Annual <br /> Action Plan for the Lands Legacy program . The plan will identify natural and <br /> cultural areas that the County will work on protecting through land acquisition or <br /> other means during FY 2002 - 03 . <br /> Please review the process outlined below in anticipation of the September <br /> meeting when the CFE will begin to discuss ideas for what sites it might <br /> recommend including in next year 's plan . Recommendations from the CFE <br /> should be finalized by its October meeting . <br /> August Staff begins workto identify possible projects , BOCC asked <br /> to provide initial guiding thoughts prior to advisory boards <br /> September Inlbal discussions by the Commission for the Environment <br /> ( natural areas/ wildlife habitat, riparian buffers , parklands ) , <br /> Agricultural Preservation Board (farmland ) , Historic <br /> Preservation Commission ( cultural and archaeological ) , and <br /> Recreation and Parks Advisory Council ( parklands ) <br /> October Staff works with each advisory, board to . finalize proposed <br /> projects for coming fiscal year . <br /> November Advisory boards approve recommended projects ; staff <br /> develops into draft Annual Action Plan . <br /> December . t Draft Annual Action Plan submitted to BOCC as part of <br /> retreat materials . . <br /> March -April B000 reviews draft . and revises` as desired <br /> May Annual Action Plan adopted concurrent with CIP discussions <br />
