86GC, adoP)r(JVrVo %matasl <br /> - , - 9 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE FUTURE PURCHASE OF LOW EMISSION <br /> AND FUEL EFFICIENT COUNTY VEHICLES <br /> WHEREAS , Orange County is interested in reducing emissions and improving the fuel <br /> economy of its vehicle fleet , and <br /> WHEREAS , there are vehicles currently on the market in North Carolina that have substantially <br /> lower emissions than the average new vehicle , and there are also often significant differences in <br /> the emissions and fuel economy of otherwise - comparable vehicles , and <br /> WHEREAS , the Orange County Board of Commissioners. in its 1999 - 2000 Goals and Objectives <br /> included an objective . related to the Natural Resources goal to " review County government <br /> policies and operations to assess environmental soundness " , and <br /> WHEREAS , further exploration of low emission vehicles would be consistent with those <br /> Commissioner goals , <br /> NOW , THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> hereby directs that the County Manager instruct all County offices engaged in procurement of <br /> County vehicles to investigate options during FY 1999 -2000 and consider the future purchase of <br /> low emission and fuel efficient vehicles in the procurement process , when feasible and cost- <br /> effective . <br /> This , the 1st day of June , 1999 , <br />
