ORANGE COUNTY COMMISSION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT Summary of Meeting May 8, 2000 Held at Orange County Southern Human Services Center, Chapel Hill , NC Members Present : , Cara Crisler, Julie Tucker, Kris Price , Loraine Kohorn , Annette Jurgelski , Laura Cotterman , Mark Smith . Excused Absences : Roy Fortmann , Dan Okun , Hervey McIver, Richard Pratt, William Glaze , Rosalinda Lidh , Lee Rafalow . Staff Present : David Stancil , ERCD Director, Rich Shaw, ERCD Land Conservation Manager, Carol Crawford , ERCD Administrative Assistant . I . Call to Order . Chair Price called the meeting to order at 7 : 45 p . m . II . Additions or Changes to Agenda . Stancil reported that Shaping Orange County Task Force would hold a community forum on May 18 at Stanback Middle School . The provisional report is on the ERCD web page for review . CfE members will receive in the mail a summary document about the report and are invited to attend the forum . Price noted a change in the agenda to move up Item # V — Quarry Expansion Discussion , to allow Tucker to attend another meeting at Chapel Hill Town Hall . III . Approval of Minutes (April 10, 2000 ) . Approval of the April 10th meeting minutes was postponed due to lack of quorum . V . Discussion of Mitigation Measures for the Quarry Expansion . Tucker reported that she brought this issue to the CfE 's attention at the April meeting and said she would attend the April 12 public hearing and report back to the CfE . First, she asked Stancil to review the status of the proposed American Stone quarry expansion . Stancil reviewed a handout with a summary of the proposal that was prepared for the Chapel Hill Town Council , including a memo from the Town Manager and a draft of the post hearing report .
