Add "Track transportation issues as ongoing " . <br /> Delete the fourth goal listed under Environmental Indicators and Education <br /> Committee . <br /> Adopt the Proposed Water Committee goals with the understanding that there <br /> will be allowed flexibility to change the goals as the committee is established and <br /> begins working . <br /> MOTION : Jurgelski moved adoption of the goals with changes as noted . <br /> Seconded by Crisler . <br /> VOTE : unanimous <br /> VII . Water Resources Committee <br /> The CfE discussed the name of the proposed committee favoring "Water <br /> Committee " or " Water Quality and Resources Committee " because most <br /> people think of water quantity when they hear " water resources ", and <br /> developing a timetable for formation relative to completion of existing <br /> WRC project possibly of Fall 2000 . The idea of filling a CfE vacancy with <br /> a member of the current Water Resources Committee and inviting other <br /> members to participate in development of the new Water Quality and <br /> Resources Committee . This item was tabled until the CfE receives further <br /> guidance from Stancil . <br /> VIII . Update on Lands Legacy Program and Resource Land <br /> Acquisitions <br /> Shaw gave an update of the Lands Legacy Program noting that the BOCC <br /> adopted the LLP on April 4th . Land acquisition is underway with ERCD , <br /> other county departments and other land management groups to move <br /> forward . The criteria for acquisition of natural areas and wildlife habitat <br /> that the CfE developed is included in the Lands Legacy Program and will <br /> be one of the tools used in identifying and acquiring land in the future . <br /> The section of the State of the Environment report that refers to the top <br /> ten areas for conservation in Orange County gives staff guidance to <br /> implementing the LLP . The County now holds the 63 acres that were <br /> formally part of the Duke Forest west of Hillsborough , and will begin <br /> working on suitable access for low impact trails . The BOCC approved the <br /> terms of Orange County 's participation in the acquisition of some property <br /> in the northeast of the County . We are working jointly with Eno River <br /> Association , Triangle Land Conservancy and Durham County to acquire <br /> the property, which has over a mile of frontage on the north fork of the <br /> Little River for a park . Shaw showed and described the parcel on a map . <br /> A media day that the Eno River Association and TLC are hosting is set for <br /> April 13th to let the media ask questions of the different partners involved . <br /> DRAFT CFE 4/ 10/00 Minutes Page 5 of 6 <br />
