Margaret Brown and Alice Gordon, <br /> CHATPEC Master Plan Work Group Co - Chairs <br /> Date : April 24 , 2003 <br /> Re : Interim Report - CHATPEC Master Plan <br /> Since its initial meeting on September 30 , the 23 -member CHATPEC Master Plan Work <br /> Group has been working steadily toward the goal of having a Master Plan to the Board <br /> prior to the summer break . The charge and mission for the Work Group is included as <br /> Attachment 1 ; the schedule for the project is included as Attachment 2 . <br /> As the Board may recall , the Work Group includes members from : <br /> o Chapel Hill , Carrboro and County elected boards <br /> o Both school boards <br /> o Carrboro , County and Chapel Hill parks and greenways advisory boards <br /> o Duke Forest <br /> o The Commission for the Environment <br /> o Interested area citizens <br /> The following table summarizes the group ' s activities to date : <br /> Date Activity <br /> September 30 Initial Meeting, review of Work Group mission and charge and pre- concept plan <br /> October Site visits of the property by Work Group members <br /> October 29 Approval of ground rules , sharing of site visit observations , review of staff s <br /> " Challenges and Opportunities " report (with detailed site information and maps) <br /> November 12 Continued discussion of Challenges and Opportunities report, process for remainder of <br /> project, further site visits . Town/County parks advisory boards asked to identify and <br /> report back on community needs <br /> December Meeting cancelled due to ice storm. Work continues of detailed topographic survey and <br /> cultural/archaeological surveys of site <br /> February 13 Report on community needs as identified by County/Town advisory boards . Review of <br /> draft Master List of potential site facilities (for future discussion) <br /> March 13 Presentations on Joint Planning Area, Carrboro Northern Transition Area Study and <br /> OWASA utility plans . "Dot-voting exercise " conducted to identify potential facilities to <br /> be excluded from master list (non-preferential) . Review of proposal for subcommittees <br /> March 27 Preferential cumulative voting dot exercise conducted. Subcommittee process reviewed. <br /> Initial subcommittee breakout sessions held, with reporting back from both groups <br /> April 10 Work Group breaks into subcommittees - Parks Subcommittee begins design charette ; <br /> Educational Campus Subcommittee reviews infrastructure issues and Carrboro plan <br /> requirements . Group reconvenes to share work and information <br />
