Recommendation — Proposed Outdoor Lighting Standards <br /> Amendments to Zoning Ordinance <br /> Smith summarized the history of the CfE ' s interest with and concern over light <br /> pollution . He said he had made a presentation to the Planning Board and that the <br /> Planning Department staff later drafted amendments to the county zoning <br /> ordinance . The proposed amendments were discussed at a February public <br /> hearing . Stancil noted that the BOCC referred the proposal to the CfE and Planning <br /> Board for formal comments . The CfE should provide recommendations to the <br /> Planning Board . The Planning Board will incorporate CfE comments into its <br /> comments and recommendations to the BOCC . The Planning Board is scheduled to <br /> consider this item on April 2nd . <br /> CfE members discussed their concerns with the draft lighting standards . Members <br /> expressed concerns about the following : <br /> Some narrative is overly technical <br /> • Some language is ambiguous <br /> • Would prefer some additional approval criteria on one instance <br /> Would like to see example of areas for possible application <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> Draft March 10 , 2003 <br />
