Notice of Request for Approval of a Corrective Action Plan <br /> Bernell Company/Melville Furniture Facility <br /> 6600 East Washington Street <br /> Mebane, North Carolina <br /> Incident No . 9435 <br /> Dear Mr. Link: <br /> This letter is to inform you that the NC Division of Waste Management (DWM) has received a request <br /> for approval of a proposal to clean up a release from a petroleum underground storage tank system <br /> located in your area . Because you are a chief political administrator of the jurisdiction in which the <br /> contamination is present, the State rules governing groundwater classifications and standards ( 15A <br /> NCAC 2L . 0115 ) , require that you be informed of the proposed activities . <br /> Trigon Engineering Consultants , Inc . on behalf of the responsible party, Cassell Properties , Inc . , is <br /> providing notice of the request for approval of a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) that , in part, proposes . <br /> • To use groundwater recovery and treatment in combination with natural processes of degradation <br /> and attenuation as a method to cleanup contaminated groundwater. <br /> The source area of the contamination is located at the former Bernell Company/Melville Furniture <br /> facility, which is located at 6600 East Washington Street in Mebane , North Carolina. <br /> The CAP has been prepared to address the contamination in groundwater at the site . The goal of the <br /> CAP is to provide details for remediation and monitoring of the Contaminants of Concern (COCs) to the <br /> extent necessary to protect public health and the environment . The goals of the selected remedial <br /> alternatives are to remediate affected groundwater until contaminant concentrations are below the <br /> groundwater standards . <br />
