V . Lands Legacy Program - Long Term Priorities
Stancil reviewed the Long - Term Priorities document prepared for the Lands Legacy
Program . He noted that the information reflects work from the CFE SOE , Lands Legacy
program and Joint Master Recreation and Parks Report . The plan will be discussed by the
BOCC the following week . He asked for CFE comments .
Stancil noted that some wording had changed , such as the idea of a central county forest
from the Biological Resources Committee being changed to an Upper New Hope Creek
corridor . He reviewed the priority list for 2002 - 2010 for Natural Areas and Wildlife
Habitat/ Prime Forests ; Prime and Threatened Farmlands Parkland and Recreational Open
Space Acquisitions ; Cultural and Archaeological Preservation ; Water Supply Watershed
Riparian Buffers . A review of items 1 - D through 1 - 1< followed along with Lands Legacy
projects . Rafalow asked for a map with better labels identifying the projects . Open
discussion about the different projects , overlay areas , and funding approaches , concluded
with the commission ' s approval of the priorities list with the option to provide comment to
staff via email .
VI . Sub - Committee to work with Recreation & Parks Advisory Council ( RPAC )
Fortmann asked for members to work on a short - term ( one or two meetings ) subcommittee
with RPAC on reviewing of Parks and Open Space priorities for Potential 2001 Bond
Referendum recommendation . Cotterman and Rafalow agreed to participate . It was
suggested that Hervey McIver might also participate . Staff was asked to contact RPAC to
coordinate a meeting . Rafalow suggested that the committee look at the priorities
established independently and see what changes to those might occur if we looked at them
as an overlaid set of priorities . Realizing the narrow window of opportunity , it was suggested
that there be a combined statement forwarded to the Capital Needs Advisory Task Force
from the RPAC and CFE supporting priority projects and be presented on May 25th jointly by
McIver ( CFE ) and Patrick Sullivan of RPAC . That strategy was agreeable to the members .
VII . Committee Breakout Sessions
The commission broke out into committee groups .
VIII . Adjournment
The CfE meeting adjourned at approximately 10 : 00 p . m .
DRAFT CFE 4/09 /01 Minutes Pacre 4 of 4
