Consideration of these contracts to <br /> Phone : ( 919 ) 245 - 2597 purchase comes after a thorough process of site <br /> Fax : ( 919 ) 644 - 3351 identification , evaluation and the negotiation of terms of <br /> purchase . <br /> Prepared by : David Stancil , Land for parks and school sites has been identified as a <br /> Environment and Resource Conservation Director top priority by a number of advisory work groups and the <br /> County itself . <br /> e - mail : dstancil @co . orange . nc . us <br /> In particular , the 1999 Joint Master Recreation and Parks <br /> Work Group report , and the 2000 Chapel HilkCarrboro City <br /> Schools ( CHCCS ) Long Range Facilities Task Force <br /> Report noted acquisition of sites as a pressing need . <br /> A total of 193 acres is being considered for acquisition . The <br /> proposed purchase would acquire four contiguous tracts of <br /> land near the intersection of Eubanks Road and Old NC 86 , <br /> owned by Malcolm and Matrena Hunter of Greensboro , and <br /> Henry Cate and Rod Cate , both of Carrboro . The land is <br /> strategically located in a fast - developing area north of <br /> Carrboro , easily - accessible to residents in Carrboro and <br /> Chapel Hill , as well as Hillsborough . <br /> County Environment and Resource Conservation staff have <br /> worked with Chapel HilkCarrboro City Schools staff to <br /> coordinate acquisition of the Hunter property , which was <br /> identified in the CHCCS Long Range Facilities report as a <br /> recommended site . <br /> At the same time as investigations were underway for a <br /> potential schools site in this area , the County — through its <br /> Lands Legacy program for park and resource land <br /> acquisitions — was identifying and evaluating sites for a <br />
