Note
that the 1999 Joint Master Recreation and Parks report emphasizes the importance of land
banking to preserve park sites now . The Task Force concurs with this recommendation ,
and recommends that at least half the parks funds allocated from the upcoming
November 2001 bond referendum be devoted to land acquisition and land preservation .
The cost estimates put forth in this table , and in the rest of the report , are based on current
knowledge and markets present in 2001 . Estimates should be revised at the time of
funding to reflect the then - current conditions .
Be Parks and Open Space Facilities Development — Short - Term Priorities (2 = 5
Years )
Table 2 gives the priorities for facilities development during the next two to five years .
Note that the Task Force anticipates that County and Town discussions or discussion of
the Capital Needs Advisory Task Force will reveal other facility needs .
