The funds would oover a modular unit for the Orange Public Transportation (OPT ) administration , the Northern Human Services Center parking lot paving , two printars for OPT and OPT bus stop signage. BACKGROUNDrw The North Carolina Department of Transportation ( NCDOT ) . Public Transportation Division accepts annual requests for capital needs from county community transportation programs . Orange Public Transportation is eligible to make an application . OPT is requesting funds ($ 167 , 000 ) to locata a now modular unit ( 27 . 5 ' x 66 `= 1808 aq . ft . ) at the Public Works .silo , if approved , OPT administration and all vehicles would be relocated from the Whitted Human Services Center close to the County Motor Pool and refuel ]! W station . This move would enhance the parking facillbles at the hitt &d Building and ramove OPT functions from resldenUal neighborhoods . On Augur 18 , 1008 , the Board of Counter Commissioners approved designating the Northern Human Services Center's southern parking lot as a Ri��gk3nal Park a ride lot in order to pramote more oar and van pooling in cooperation with Triangle Transit Authority . The capital request for $ 45 , 000 would pave the approximately 120 ' X 225 ' lot , The smaller capital needs request would be the replacement of two OPT printers ($ 5400 ) and additional OPT bus stop slg n ag a ($ 1530 ) . FINANCIAL IMPACT : The NC DOT Community Transportation Program Grant raquWas a 10 % local County match in the amount of $ 21 , 893 which would be included in the Department on Aging/OPT 2002 =2003 proposed budget request.
