The selection committee reviews forms and <br /> makes nominations according to the stated criteria . <br /> Phase 4 (December) : Selected Conservation Heroes are contacted and awarded at County <br /> Commissioner Meeting . <br /> Criteria <br /> • Separate individuals and organizations into two classes <br /> • Identify the natural or cultural resource conservation contribution that the <br /> individual or group made , the amount of time spent working on this contribution , <br /> and the monetary value of the contribution (if applicable) . The monetary value <br /> assigned to the contribution should reflect the method used to contribute , for <br /> example 5 acres of similar real estate would be valued more if it were donated <br /> versus a conservation easement placed on the land . <br /> • Combine time spent and value and rate individuals in one group and organizations <br /> in another. <br /> • Make decisions based on this comparison . <br /> • Ensure that awards represent an equal share of groups and individuals . <br /> • Ensure that awards equally represent geography, race , and age . <br /> • Make sure that a variety of contributions are chosen to advertise the different <br /> types of contributions Orange County residents can make . <br />
