07 <br /> County of Orange , Commission for the Environment Rules of Procedure , amended 4 / 15 / 99 <br /> PROPOSED 3 / 11 /02 AMENDMENT IN SHAHED BOLD TEXT <br /> b . Ten at- large members with some knowledge of environmental science <br /> and/or environmental issues including , but not limited to experts in the <br /> following fields : <br /> • Education <br /> • Energy <br /> • Law <br /> • Public Health <br /> • Public Policy <br /> • Solid Waste <br /> • Other areas that overlap with the five areas of specific expertise <br /> 4 . Appointed members shall serve a term of three years with initial terms staggered <br /> as follows . <br /> a . Air Quality - one year , thereafter three years <br /> b . Engineering and Land Resources - two years ; thereafter three years <br /> c . Biological Sciences and Water Resources - initial term three years <br /> d . At- Large Members : <br /> • One year for four members <br /> • Two years for three members <br /> • Three years for two members <br /> 5 . Associate CFE Committee Members <br /> a . Purpose and Rationale <br /> • Recognizing that the Commission for the Environment ( CFE) <br /> committees could benefit from additional support from people <br /> who are not appointed to the CFE , the CFE proposes the <br /> idelines to recruit and integrate non - CFE members following gu <br /> into CFE committees . The objective is to identify persons with <br /> unique expertise and different perspectives to assist with special <br /> projects or ad-hoc work groups . These "Associates " of the CFE <br /> will be non-voting participants and will assist the CFE with <br /> special projects or ad- hoc work groups . Associate CFE members <br /> will not have the same responsibilities as CFE members . <br /> b . Eligibility Requirements <br /> • All persons interested in becoming Associate CFE members are <br /> eligible to apply for the position . <br /> • Participation is not limited to Orange County citizens . <br /> 3 <br />
