There are a number of pending matters with varying degrees of urgency that the Board <br /> may wish to discuss at this work session and to provide direction to the Manager in working <br /> further with County and school staffs . <br /> CHCCS New Facilities — Possible Next Steps <br /> The Chapel HilkCarrboro Board of Education adopted a resolution on October 17 , 2002 <br /> outlining their position on several issues related to planning for new capital facilities . The Chair <br /> sent a response on behalf of the Board in a letter dated November 20 , 2002 . Since that time , <br /> there has been extensive public discussion and deliberations by the Chapel Hill Town Council <br /> which resulted in elimination of the Town ' s Southern Park site as a possible location for a <br /> proposed third high school in the Chapel HilkCarrboro system . Both the BOCC and Chapel Hill - <br /> Carrboro Board of Education have conducted their annual planning retreats during the past few <br /> weeks . This work session will provide the BOCC with an opportunity to discuss with CHCCS <br /> representatives the context and constraints within which next steps can be taken to resolve the <br /> need for additional permanent high school capacity in the Chapel Hill - Carrboro system . <br /> High School Planning Task Force <br /> This task force , comprised of the Chairs and Vice- Chairs of the BOCC and both school boards , <br /> met five times between May and November 2002 . Discussion moved from general review of <br /> past examples and continuing opportunities for sharing on high school programming and <br /> facilities to a more specific focus in the later meetings on relevant issues and possible locations <br /> for a proposed third high school in the Chapel HilkCarrboro system . The general feeling of the <br />
