Chair Price asked for comments on the Biological Resources Committee report . <br /> Kohorn noted that the aim is for a condensed version to be completed during the <br /> committee breakout session, similar to the executive summary . Ideas of adding dates of <br /> the wildlife reports , adding University Lake and Hillsborough water supply sources , and <br /> adding wording to priority section of " subject to further review and change" . The pros <br /> and cons of conservation easements were discussed . Okun suggested a map be included <br /> to pinpoint the text topics of the reports to the BOCC . The goal of 10% of county land <br /> being in a managed protected status over the next 10+ years was discussed as being <br /> reasonable due to the availability of new grant funds , the creation of the Lands Legacy <br /> Program and considering the Governor has a goal of one million acres to be set aside for <br /> conservation purposes over the next ten years . A correction was made on page five , of <br /> removing the two sections about " Orange County has yet to be surveyed for the presence <br /> of these species" . <br /> MOTION : Pratt motioned to approve the Biological Resources Committee report as <br /> revised. Seconded by Lidh . <br /> VOTE : Unanimous . <br /> Price asked for comments on the Environmental Indicators and Education Committee <br /> report. Kohorn suggested changing the word from "to " to "towards" in <br /> recommendation number four, page two . Other suggestions included ; rewording the <br /> recommendations repetitive wording of "commit funds" , clarifying the deficit of 645 <br /> parklands , and explaining the population growth figures . <br /> MOTION : Tucker motioned to approve the Environmental Indicators and Education <br /> Committee report with revisions and forward to the BOCC . Seconded by Kohorn. <br /> VOTE : Unanimous <br /> Stancil thanked the committees for their efforts and noted that the reports will be <br /> forwarded to the BOCC with a cover memo for the January 20th retreat . <br /> IV. Comments and Recommendation on Triangle Land Conservancy Report <br /> (Rating Lands by their Wildlife Value) <br /> Stancil noted that the CFE was asked by the BOCC to develop comments on this report <br /> and how it should be used . <br /> Price inquired about whether there are any tools in existence for requiring preservation <br /> of wildlife habitat . The only known regulations were Federal Endangered Species act <br /> regulations . <br /> Kohorn noted that the report ' s recommendations are valid from a conservation biology <br /> perspective but could have been made with or without this study being completed .
