High Impact – Low Cost Funding <br />Report <br /> <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Abigaile Pittman, Transportation/Land <br />Use Planner, 919-245-2567 <br /> Nish Trivedi, Transportation Planner <br /> 919-245-2582 <br /> <br /> <br />PURPOSE: Receive staff updates and provide any comments that the Board might have. <br /> <br />Item 7.a – MPO/RPO NCDOT Project Updates - NCDOT regularly releases lists of <br />transportation projects underway in the DCHC MPO and BG MPO. See Attachment 1. <br /> <br />Item 7.b. – OUTBoard Orientation Materials – At several meetings earlier this year, staff <br />reviewed and revised OUTBoard Orientation materials with the Board. The proposal was to <br />bring all information up to date, to add new topics that have arisen over the past several <br />years, and t o provide materials that would be most helpful to Board members. The <br />orientation materials are now available online through the Boards and Committees section of <br />the Planning Department’s web page: http://www.orangecountync.gov/2005/OUTBoard- <br />Orientation-Materials . Links are also provided within the orientation sections to information <br />that is already provided elsewhere and/or regularly updated by other agencies, such as <br />NCDOT and the MPOs/RPO. In this way, information is uniformly and accurately updated by <br />the responsible agency. <br /> <br />Staff will schedule an orientation session with new OUTBoard members in December, and <br />any other members that wish to attend. <br /> <br />Item 7.c. – Call for High Impact – Low Cost Projects – At its October 17 meeting, staff <br />requested OUTBoard members assist them in developing potential project lists by making <br />note of needed small transportation improvements as they travel county roads. Throughout <br />each fiscal year opportunities arise for Orange County to submit requests to fund small <br />transportation projects to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). <br />Potential funding sources for these projects include the 2018-2019 High Impact – Low Cost <br />Project Program. Last week staff received a notice from NCDOT that they are requesting <br />project submittals under the High Impact – Low Cost Project Program. NCDOT expects the <br />program will be funded at $1.78M/year for each of the 14 NCDOT Divisions. <br /> <br />35
