Draft Rules of the Road Brochure <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Abigaile Pittman, Transportation/Land <br />Use Planner, 919-245-2567 <br />PURPOSE:Receive a report on the recent activities of the BSIS. <br />BACKGROUND:Since the October 17 OUTBoard meeting, four posters have been approved <br />by the BSIS (Attachment 1) and printing ordered by staff. A draft brochure focused on ‘Rules of <br />the Road’ has been prepared for OUTBoard review and comment (Attachment 2). Additionally, <br />the bicycle safety website has been completed and is now <br />live: https://orangecountyncbicyclesafety.com/. The video PSAs are included on the website <br />and the poster still shots from the videos are being circulated through information monitors at <br />locations throughout Orange County. <br />Next Steps <br />x Staff and the BSIS will continue to work on: <br />x Social media ads and posts, and radio ads will be underway late fall of this year. <br />Budgeted funds will be utilized for social media ads on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, <br />print and/or radio ads (WCHL Radio, News of Orange, etc.). Audio PSAs will be <br />produced by WCOM Radio next spring. <br />x The installation of fifteen bicycle safety road signs at entry points to the county and along <br />frequently used bicycle routes late this year. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT:There is no i mmediate financial impact associated with this item. <br />Budgeted funds from are being utilized. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S):Staff recommends that the OUTBoard: <br />1. Receive information; and <br />2. Provide any comments or direction that the Board might have. <br />27
