What are the concerns or emerging issues your board has identified for the <br />upcoming year that it plans to address, or wishes to bring to the <br />Commissioners’ attention? <br />1. Continue to explore implementation opportunities for Safe Routes to <br />School (SRTS) projects, including prioritizing the county and the Town of <br />Hillsborough working out an agreement for sidewalk construction and <br />maintenance to facilitate sidewalks to the schools that are outside the <br />Town limits; <br />2. Pursuit of funding sources for prioritized transportation projects and track <br />status of project implementation; <br />3. Coordinate connectivity and infrastructural changes with the towns in <br />order to create better conditions for bicycling and other alternate forms of <br />non-motorized transportation; <br />4. Work with NCDOT to promote funding of pedestrian and bicycle projects <br />in rural areas to a greater degree. <br />5. Promote alternative transportation modes during peak hours via public- <br />private partnerships through collaboration with the Orange County <br />Transportation Demand Manager (TDM) Coordinator. <br />23
