2 <br /> <br />A. Ms. Annette Moore discussed visions for the One Orange campaign. She explained how <br />the campaign will be designed to create a sense of solidarity among all Orange County <br />residents (departments, organizations, and residents). She noted that she will be <br />working with Dr. Debby Stroman to develop goals and objectives of One Orange. Ms. <br />Nancy White will assist Ms. Moore and Dr. Stroman with goals and objectives. <br />B. Ms. Tara May reported that Human Rights & Relations (HR&R) staff is working with the <br />county’s graphic designer to develop a One Orange logo. Also mentioned opening it up <br />as a contest <br />C. Ms. Moore introduced the idea of creating a speaker series as part of the One Orange <br />campaign. To recruit diverse speakers to come speak on diverse topics. Ms. Moore <br />mentioned a possibility to receive a grant to commission Ms. Angela Davis, in the future <br />[i.e. Women’s Month], to come speak at an HRC event . <br /> <br />V. HRC Events & Committee Reports <br />A. Forum <br />1. The planned forum topic of “citizenship” will be revisited for modification, at the <br />next meeting. <br />B. Pauli Murray Awards <br />1. The planning committee will consist of Mr. Matt Case (committee Chair), Ms. <br />White, Ms. Jacqulyn Podger, Dr. Stroman, Ms. Ana Garcia-Turner, Ms. Stephanie <br />Harrell, and Ms. May. They will meet next Monday (10/15/18) at 6pm. <br />2. HRC members present decided to have the 2019 PMAs the last Sunday in <br />February (02/24/19). <br />3. The Whitted building will be the site for the 2019 PMAs. <br />4. HRC will not partner with The Pauli Murray Project in Durham for the 2019 <br />PMAs, but plan to partner with them on a project in the future. <br />5. The student contest will be essay only. HRC members and the planning <br />committee will come up with an essay topic and theme. Ms. Podger suggested <br />that the topic be Pauli Murray related. <br />6. HRC members & HR&R staff will get the 2019 PMAs contest and nomination info <br />to schools, organizations, media outlets, and the chamber of commerce <br />7. The planning committee will revisit the matrix for businesses and individuals that <br />are nominated for the 2019 PMAs. Ms. May will send members this info. <br />8. Ms. Moore noted that she has some ideas on possible speakers for the PMAs <br />2019. She mentioned speakers such as Reverend William Barber and Rosalind <br />Rosenberg. Ms. Moore will try to book Reverend Barber as a speaker for the <br />2019 PMAs. <br /> <br />C. Community Read <br />D. Community Conversation <br />1. HRC members debriefed and reflected on the past Community Conversation. <br />Everyone was pleased by the turnout and the conversations had amo ng <br />attendees. <br />VI.
