Chris called the meeting to order at 6:33. <br /> <br />II. Amy moved, Linda seconded to approve the February April 9th minutes. Motion passed. <br /> <br />III. Director’s Report <br />• Katie asked all board members to submit a short personal bio and photo for our <br />website. Deadline: May 31st. <br />• Katie asked for volunteers to introduce “Arts Moment” presenters at the Board of <br />Commissioners meetings. A sign-up sheet was circulated and several members <br />signed up. <br />• Local Fest will be held on September 29th. Artists’ registration fees will go to OCAC. <br />• Our intern, Georgia Brenner, is leaving for grad school in June. Katie will recruit a <br />new intern which she will share with the Local Fest planner. <br />• Arts Day in Raleigh on May 23 & 24. Katie and others will be meeting with our state <br />legislators. This year’s legislative goal is $1 per citizen for the Arts. This would mean <br />a 68% increase for Orange County. <br />• Katie will meet with Steve Brantley, Chapel Hill Economic Development Director, to <br />discuss a small business grant for creative endeavors. <br />• Katie has been asked to serve on the Ackland Art Museum Outreach Task Force. <br />• Orange County participation in the 4th Annual Congressional District Art Competition <br />was very low (2 submissions) again this year. We will reconsider this next year. <br />• Katie held three grant training sessions. <br />• Katie is participating in on-going conversations with the Town of Chapel Hill <br />regarding the possible purchase of the Varsity Theater and renovation for a <br />performance art space. <br />• Katie presented State of the Arts report to nine agencies/organizations. <br /> <br />
