Animal Services Director) <br />GUESTS PRESENT: None <br />_____________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Call to order: 6:30pm <br /> <br />Review and adoption of the Agenda: approved <br /> <br />Summary of August 15, 2018 meeting: Motion to approve summary with this addition: Recommend a <br />new agenda item for ASAB October meeting: Make recommendations for changes in the NC general <br />statues to the BOCC as part of their legislative agenda. <br />Motion passed unanimously <br /> <br />Review of public participation guidelines: Not reviewed <br /> <br />General Public Comments on items not on the agenda: None <br /> <br />Monthly Meeting Attendance Record: Confirm completion <br /> <br />Welcome new board members: <br />• Lisa Wells (retail sector position) <br />• Bryan Stuart, Ph.D. (Hillsborough position) <br />• Lee Pickett, VMD (veterinary position) <br />• Next new member orientation will be October 4th <br />Note: One position is still open: at large non-municipal <br /> <br />Animal Services Advisory Board Updates: <br />New Business <br />• 2018 Pat Sanford Animal Welfare Award <br />o Award guidelines were distributed to ASAB members <br />o October 15 is the deadline for submitting a grant application, either electronically <br />or via mail, and the award committee will make a final decision no later than <br />November 15 <br />o Selection of ASAB committee members to serve on the grant review committee: Bryan <br />Stuart, Lee Pickett, Evelyn Daniel <br />• Animal Services Updates—Andi Morgan <br />o Discussed success of “Clear the Shelters” event, support efforts for hurricane Florence, <br />and upcoming events such as vaccination clinic (9/27), spay/neuter day (10/17), October <br />dog adoption month, donation for surgery animal warming blankets, filling 3 final <br />staffing vacancies and fate of trees near easement <br /> <br />
