2 It should also be noted that the Skills Development Center circuit will be upgraded from 5Mbps to 10Mbps due to 5Mbps service no longer being offered in new or renewal agreements. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Currently, the aforementioned services are funded through the Network Leases IT Operational Account at a current rate of $11,162.03 per month on a month to month basis. The attached Spectrum Customer Service Order reduces this monthly charge for the same network services and improves internet services by committing the County to a 24 month term, i.e., $8,625 per month x 24 months = $207,000. The expenditure reduction over this new term is $60,888.72. SOCIAL JUSTICE IMPACT: The following Orange County Social Justice Goal is applicable to this item: • GOAL: ENABLE FULL CIVIC PARTICIPATION Ensure that Orange County residents are able to engage government through voting and volunteering by eliminating disparities in participation and barriers to participation. It should additionally be noted that while infrastructure services such as this may not have visible social justice impact when considering the above technical and financial details, these services do provide a tool for the County to achieve all of its social justice goals, through some of the following services and others: • wireless internet in all public buildings, • incoming and outgoing phone service, • the ability of County and its departments to have centralized Information Technology support, thereby allowing them to pursue daily responsibilities and longer term goals. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board approve and authorize the Manager to sign the Spectrum Customer Service Order renewal.
