ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM AB5TRACT <br />Meeting Date: May 17, 2005 <br />Action AgenSda <br />Item No. <br />SUBJECT: Schools Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance (SAPFO) -Approval of <br />2005 SAPFOTAC Recommendations <br />DEPARTMENT: Manager/Budget/Planning/ <br />Attorney <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />Draft SAPFOTAC Annual Report <br />(under separate cover) <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Rod Visser, ext 2300 <br />Craig Benedict, ext 2592 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To approve student membership projections of the Orange County Schools <br />(OCS) and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS), as cutlined in the 2005 Report of the <br />SAPFO Technical Advisory Committee (SAPFOTAC), <br />BACKGROUND: At the December 14, 2004 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the <br />Board approved the November 15, 2004 actual student membership numbers and the building <br />capacity numbers based on the 2003-04 individual school building capacity for both school <br />systems, At the December 14, 2004 meeting, the Board also received the 10-year student <br />membership projections for both Orange County Schools and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City <br />Schools. <br />At the March 1, 2005 BOCC meeting, the Board reviewed the draft of the 2005 SAPFOTAC <br />report, Subsequently, the draft report was posted on the Orange County Planning <br />Department's web site. A letter and the Executive Summary of the report was sent to all <br />SAPFO partners on April 14, 2005 advising them of the availability of the draft report and <br />inviting comment. Comments were requested for submission prior to May 10, 2005, No <br />comments have been received to this point, <br />The exact pages of the 2005 SAPFOTAC report and recommendations that the BOCC will be <br />approving are listed below, The full report contains the context (i.e. definitions and standards) <br />of the various SAPFO elements, <br />
