Petition Letter & Secondary Road Addition <br />Investigation Report for Jomali Drive <br />5, Petition Letter & Secondary Road Addition <br />Investigation Report for Zapata Lane <br />6, Petition Letter & Secondary Road Addition <br />Investigation Report for Tanya Drive <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Karen Lincoln, ext, 2594 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough <br />Chapel Hill <br />Durham <br />Mebane <br />732 -8181 <br />968 -4501 <br />688 -7331 <br />(336)227 -2031 <br />PURPOSE: To consider three petitions to add subdivision roads to the state - maintained <br />Secondary Road System. <br />BACKGROUND: Jomali Drive (extension of SR 1642): The developer of Pleasant Green Woods <br />Subdivision Phase II has petitioned the North Carolina department of Transportation ( NCDOT) to <br />accept maintenance responsibilities for an extension of Jomali Drive, SR 1642, Pleasant Green <br />Woods subdivision is located off the east side of Pleasant Green Road, SR 1567, Eno Township. <br />The extension of Jomali Drive serves 13 homes in Phase II of Pleasant Green Woods., The Board <br />approved Pleasant Green Woods Phase II in August 2000, <br />Zapata Lane: Residents in Zapata Subdivision have petitioned NCDOT to accept maintenance <br />responsibilities for Zapata Lane. Zapata Subdivision is located off the west side of Old Lystra <br />Road, SR 1915, in the Extra Territorial Jurisdiction of Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill Township. Zapata <br />Lane serves 11 homes in Zapata Lane and Lystra Woods Subdivisions. <br />Tanya Drive (extension of SR 1448): The property owner of ,04 -mile lot fronting Tanya Drive has <br />petitioned NCDOT to accept maintenance responsibilities for that portion of the road, The Board, <br />at its meeting on April 13, 2004, approved Tanya Drive residents' petition requesting NCDOT to <br />accept maintenance responsibilities for the part of Tanya Drive from Cherry Street to the northern <br />lot boundary of the corner lot at Tanya Drive and Glenn Street, At that time, NCDOT was not able <br />to obtain right -of -way on Tanya Drive for that corner property. The property owner has now <br />dedicated the right -of -way to NCDOT. Two homes have entrances on the .04 -mile portion of Tanya <br />Drive. Tanya Drive also serves as a through road for other homes in the subdivision, This addition <br />will complete a state - maintained access through the subdivision (Glenn Street, Tanya Drive and <br />Cherry Street). <br />
