Data will be recorded from an estimated 180 screening locations. The actual
quantity and location of screenings may be adjusted in the field based on site observations and in effort to assess
the smaller documented areas of concern (waste and fill areas). S&ME field personnel will also take photographs
of vapor screening activities and site conditions/areas of interest (stream conditions, exposed partially buried
waste, surface waste, and mounded, lhummocky topography) relevant to future assessment and eventual
remediation of the site.
The vapor screenings will be conducted as follows:
• Ambient air will be screened at four or more background locations.
• Bump tests will be conducted to verify proper calibration and instrument accuracy before, during, and
after the survey.
• Duplicate readings of at least one background and two screening locations will be conducted.
• If a duplicate reading differs by 2% or greater,an additional screening will be conducted at the same
location.
• S&ME will use a GPS unit pre-programmed with the grid screening location name(i.e. 134) and its
coordinates to field-locate each screening point. The field crew will locate each screening point and
conduct limited vegetation clearing if needed to reach the screening points.
• Three meters wiil be used to collect vapor data at each screening point.
o Landfill Gas Meter—GEM5000 PLUS(or equivalent)for: methane, hydrogen sulfide, oxygen,
carbon dioxide and barometric pressure
o Mercury Analyzer-Jerome 431X Mercury(or equivalent)for mercury
o Photo-lonization Detector—MIniRae 3000 PI (or equivalent)for total VOCs
November 6, 2018 2
