AGENCY INFORMATION (Be Very Brief and Concise) <br /> Please provide the following information about your agency (2 pages OR LESS): <br /> a) Years in Operation, Date of Incorporation (MonthlYear): 39 Years; 12/1979 <br /> b) Agency's Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences): The Arc of the Triangle <br /> supports children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities [I/DD] in the <br /> achievement of their personal goals and dreams in our community through partnership and <br /> advocacy. <br /> c) Types of Services the Agency Provides (bullet format): <br /> • Individual Services provides community and in-home based support services offers to <br /> individuals with I/DD. The Arc hires, trains and supervises direct care staff. Services are <br /> based on individual need. <br /> • Supported Employment provides support to adults looking for permanent employment <br /> in the community. Services include assessment, job development, coaching, intensive <br /> training, and long-term follow along. <br /> • Respite provides the family and primary caregivers with relief from caring for a loved <br /> one. <br /> • Community Programs based in Orange County: Community Connections Partner <br /> Program, Triangle Self-Advocacy Network, HOPE Gardens, HOOPs basketball, Petals <br /> with a Purpose, Cooking & Nutrition Class, and Friday Fun Day. <br /> d) Agency's History with Providing These Services: <br /> The Arc of Orange County formed thirty-nine years ago to serve individuals with Intellectual <br /> and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) living in Orange County, North Carolina by parents of <br /> children with special needs. Where no other similar agencies existed, The Arc identified the <br /> need to provide families with programs, support and advocacy. Through the success of <br /> these programs The Arc expanded to include Supported Employment and community <br /> programs. In July 2014, The Arc of Orange County, merged with our Durham and Wake <br /> chapters, forming The Arc of the Triangle. The Arc of the Triangle proudly serves the <br /> Triangle area with a myriad of services, programs and events for the I/DD community. <br /> e) Other Pertinent Agency Information In December 2017, the Interim Executive Director <br /> was given the permanent position of Executive Director. In December our Assistant Director <br /> of Volunteer Services, Susan Chandler resigned. For years Susan was the heart behind our <br /> Orange County community programs. We are currently hiring her replacement. The new job <br /> title will be Outreach and Volunteer Specialist.
