AGENCY INFORMATION (Be Very Brief and Concise) Please provide the following information about your agency (2 pages OR LESS): a) Years in Operation, Date of Incorporation (MonthlYear): 39 Years; 12/1979 b) Agency's Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences): The Arc of the Triangle supports children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities [I/DD] in the achievement of their personal goals and dreams in our community through partnership and advocacy. c) Types of Services the Agency Provides (bullet format): • Individual Services provides community and in-home based support services offers to individuals with I/DD. The Arc hires, trains and supervises direct care staff. Services are based on individual need. • Supported Employment provides support to adults looking for permanent employment in the community. Services include assessment, job development, coaching, intensive training, and long-term follow along. • Respite provides the family and primary caregivers with relief from caring for a loved one. • Community Programs based in Orange County: Community Connections Partner Program, Triangle Self-Advocacy Network, HOPE Gardens, HOOPs basketball, Petals with a Purpose, Cooking & Nutrition Class, and Friday Fun Day. d) Agency's History with Providing These Services: The Arc of Orange County formed thirty-nine years ago to serve individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) living in Orange County, North Carolina by parents of children with special needs. Where no other similar agencies existed, The Arc identified the need to provide families with programs, support and advocacy. Through the success of these programs The Arc expanded to include Supported Employment and community programs. In July 2014, The Arc of Orange County, merged with our Durham and Wake chapters, forming The Arc of the Triangle. The Arc of the Triangle proudly serves the Triangle area with a myriad of services, programs and events for the I/DD community. e) Other Pertinent Agency Information In December 2017, the Interim Executive Director was given the permanent position of Executive Director. In December our Assistant Director of Volunteer Services, Susan Chandler resigned. For years Susan was the heart behind our Orange County community programs. We are currently hiring her replacement. The new job title will be Outreach and Volunteer Specialist.
