(YeslNo) NO
If yes, is this agency an Orange County Living Wage Certified Employer?
If no, please explain. We pay above the state mandated minimum wage to our part-time
direct care staff, but we do not meet Orange County's living wage standard. Our
reimbursement rate from the Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) who control Medicaid
funding for I/DD services are not reimbursed at a rate high enough to pay a living wage.
Where other agencies have discontinued these services, The Arc feels morally and
professionally responsible to continue to provide services to the I/DD community and
provide other employee incentives while someone works as direct care staff for The Arc:
raises based on performance, Appreciation Week, bonuses for referring new staff,
Employee of the Quarter which comes with recognition and a financial reward,
acknowledgment of anniversaries with tokens of appreciation. It should also be noted that a
large percentage of our employees in Orange County are college students who are fortunate
enough to want to do this type of work because it is so rewarding and educational or for the
experience, not the pay.
h) Agency Budget
i. Is your agency currently receiving and/or requesting other(non-Human Services)
local (Town of Carrboro, Town of Chapel Hill, Orange County) government
funding?
