Z`i
IL Outreach Process
Land Use Element Map Amendment Requests
During the informal citizen input process, which will continue until a Public
Hearing on the Land Use Element (LUE) update is held, Staff received three
separate requests for LUE Map amendments, These requests were made as a
necessary step prior to applying for re- zonings. Staff informed those who made
the requests that Staff would provide a response to their request as part of this
report. The response would indicate that their amendment request had either
been incorporated into Staffs recommendations for the LUE update or excluded
and why. The following provides a brief summary of these requests:
1. Change from 10-Year Transition Area to a classification that would allow
for commercial development at the northwest corner of the E. Washington
Street/Buckhorn Road intersection;
2. Change from Agricultural Residential to a classification that would allow
for commercial development at the northwest quadrant of the New Sharon
Church Road /St. Mary's Road intersection; and
3. Change from Agricultural Residential to a classification that would allow
for commercial development at the southern corner of the NC 57 /Mile
Branch Road intersection.
The Planning Department will draft a staff response to each of the informal
requests summarized above after completion of the following small -area planning
efforts: Orange County/Town of Hillsborough Urban Transition Area Task Force
and the update to the 1991 Efland Area Study. These small -area planning efforts
are particularly germane to request numbers 1 and 2 above. If Staff finds that
there is sufficient information available to respond to these requests before these
small -area planning efforts are complete, earlier responses may be provided.
11 -F- 1
