<br />Tha Board of Commissioners mat on Pledne edny, M¢y 14, 1958, at 8 o~clack P. M, to begin study of
<br />the 1958-1959 budget, with all members present.
<br />To reflect the inoreased ellotmeat in the O.A.A, and A,P.T.D. entegoxq o£ the Pfelfare program
<br />alloyed by the State and Federal Government, it tree moved by Commissioner CBalker and seconded by
<br />Conmdseioner Stanford that the Peelfare O.A.A. budget be amended to shoe the additional allotment from
<br />of $3,552.00 and an appropriation increase of $3,552.00, and in the A.P.T.D, program, a similar
<br />allotment increase~of $1,92D.00 and en appzopriatlon increase of $1,920,00,
<br />from the state
<br />Chairman Hobbs called for a vote and there Here 4 ayes and 0 noes,
<br />The Accountant pre seated the audit contract far the fiscal year 1957-1958 proposed by 41. t5, Rusa
<br />and Company of Aaleigh, N. C. The contrast celled for a payment of $1,250,00 to audit the General
<br />County Funds and a payment oT $250.00 to audit the tea eollector~s sdtt]ament.
<br />Upon motion made by Commissioner Aay, seconded try Commissioner McDade and unenlmously approved,
<br />it ras ordered that these contracts be signed by the Chairman and the County Accountant and accepted
<br />by the County.
<br />The decountant was authorized to purchase between 70 and 100 tons of ezvshed stone 17"pm Nallo
<br />Teer Construction Caapnny at $1,65 par ton to out an the new parking lot behind the County Court-
<br />hwse. Ae :ras also authorized to hire someone to bring this stone from the quarry to the parking
<br />lot, spread it, and pack i.t, taking the test possible bid on this work,
<br />Upon motion duly made, seconded, and passed, the Board decided to meet ¢gaia at 10 o'clock A. M.
<br />on Elsy 22, 1958, to canvass returns of the Soeciel School Merger Election, end for further budget
<br />discussion,
<br />There being no further urgent business, the attentlon of tea Beard Has directed upon the 1958-1959

<br />'~, for enlargement of Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit 490 votes, Number of votes against enlarge-
<br />ment of Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit 723 voter.
<br />The Chairman next recognized Gars. Thomas Y. Teer, Registrar of iYhite Czoss Precinct tip. 2 in
<br />Special School Election, Mrs, Teer Siled original return sharing total Hamlet of voters registered
<br />' i 306. Slumber of votes for enlargement of Chapel H111 City Administrative Unit 75. Number of votes
<br />against enlargement Chapel Hill City Administzative llnit 193,
<br />The Board of Commissioners acting as a Bpnrd of Elections then totalled the votes cast in the
<br />spacial election held on May 20, 1958 and found the result to ba that there ware 565 votes for the
<br />enlargement of the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit and 916 votes agninat the enlargement of the
<br />Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit.
<br />Up an these returns the Board hereby certifies that the enlargement of the Chanel Hill City Ad-
<br />ministrative Unit was defeated in said election.
<br />Zt in further ordered that n cony of these minutes be flunished to the Orange County Board of
<br />Education and also a copy 1lsnished to the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit.

<br />enlarging city administrative unlta the costs incident to the special election held on tiny 2D, 1955,
<br />will to paid by the Chapel Hill City Administrative Unit, The County Accountant is reevested to
<br />fonsrd to the Secretary of the City Administrative Unit bill recelved for printing in the amount
<br />of `3134.20, bill received for election books in the amount of $30.80, tills received from Mrs. L. R.
<br />Sturdivant in the amount of 391,96, dshwell B. Hnxward is the amount of $10.00, Bruce H. Riggsbee
<br />1n the mount of $10,00, Mrs. Thomas Y. Teer £n the amount of $91.86, Efrs. F,ffie Eubanks in the
