Along with some general criteria, the legislation states that the funding is for <br />"areas in the greatest need for school nurses with the greatest inability to pay for these nurses". <br />Both school systems in Orange County are not currently aware of any impacts this will have on <br />their school nurse needs/plans. Staff at the State Department of Public Instruction also does <br />not have any information on the impacts of this appropriation. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The total cost of the contracts is $430,449 and was authorized in the <br />approved budget for FY2004-2005. The Orange County Schools will receive a total of <br />$153,377 for three nurses and the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools will receive a total of <br />$277,072 for five nurses. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the contracts, <br />subject to final review by staff and the County Attorney, and authorize the Chair to sign. <br />
