10/23/18 <br /> 5 <br />Family Success <br />Alliance <br />Access • The Council adopted a new strategic plan for 2019-2021, which <br />maps out four main priority areas: Family Empowerment <br />(evolving the current navigator program into a tiered approach), <br />Partnerships (cultivating a more inclusive partnership model), <br />Systems Change (prioritizing racial equity and systems change), <br />and Foundational strategies (expanding reach and impact, <br />optimizing infrastructure, securing resources). <br />• FSA completed innovation grants to four schools that furthered <br />restorative justice practices, supported art therapy for students, <br />and enhanced mindfulness practices (FY17-18). FSA sponsored <br />summer camps at New Hope Elementary and Frank Porter <br />Graham Bilingue, and evaluation results showed improved <br />academic outcomes for students in both camps. The navigator <br />team has expanded to include two additional navigators, bringing <br />the total to 9 navigators. A grant from Kenan Charitable Trust is <br />supporting the hiring of a new Manager of Family Engagement <br />for a three-year term. <br />Justice Advisory <br />Council <br />Substance Abuse <br />& Mental Health • North Carolina Reentry Week was celebrated in Orange County <br />on Friday, April 27th in Hillsborough by having the first <br />gathering of the Orange County Local Reentry Council. The <br />event was hosted by the Criminal Justice Resource Department <br />and the Health Department. <br />• Criminal Justice Resource Department was awarded a grant to <br />serve as the Intermediary Agency for our Local Reentry Council <br />(LRC). This funding will provide critical support to the work of <br />the LRC and is renewable for a total of three years. The grant <br />also allows CJRC to hire two full-time positions: a LRC <br />Coordinator and a Reentry Case Manager. <br />
