Call to Order: Roll was called and visitors introduced. <br /> <br />II. Additions or Changes to Agenda, Meeting Summary: no comments on March notes. <br />The Council thanked the BOCC for the annual gift given tonight. <br /> <br />III. Report of the Chair: <br />a. Welcome to New Member- Michael Zelek. <br />b. Vacancies-Cheeks Township and Cedar Grove Township remain open with no <br />current applicants in these townships. <br /> <br />IV. New Business <br />a. Indoor Tennis Facility Proposal-Guest Speakers Sally Brodeur and Rachel Hawkins <br />spoke of a new tennis facility idea. They are looking for more tennis courts and for a <br />number of them to be indoor courts. Ideally, they would like for them to be built at <br />the SportsPlex. Discussion then took place. Greeson asked about the Master Park <br />Plan. In 2023, the plan will be up for a 10 year review. The last needs assessment <br />resulted in minimal response for new courts. Williams Reid asked about the planning <br />of the expansion of the SportsPlex. It was designed over two and a half years ago <br />and construction began a few months ago with plans to finish this summer. These <br />plans do not include tennis courts. The PRC does not make decisions for the <br />SportsPlex. The representatives will make contact with Sportsplex management. <br />Representatives from the Orange Tennis Club added that Hillsborough needs more <br />outdoor tennis courts.. <br />b. BOCC Review of Parks Capital (CIP) Projects (from April 10 meeting) Stancil <br />provided a print out of the recommended funding for CIP projects as recommended <br />by the County Manager. <br /> <br />V. Old Business <br />a. Friends of the MST – Memo of Understanding. Stancil says about 8 (eight) different <br />owners are involved with easements for the MST. A memo of understanding will go to <br />the BOCC in the next few weeks related to work on the MST. State Parks will help pay <br />for some of the easements. Trail building is happening with staff and volunteers. <br />b. Fishing Rodeo Relocation-The Fishing Rodeo has been going on since the mid-1970s <br />at Bob Strayhorn’s pond. June 2 will be the first change to Blackwood Farm Park from <br />Strayhorn’s pond. Gina Reyman moved to name the Fishing Rodeo be now named for <br />the Strayhorn Family. Greeson seconded the motion, all approved.
