Judge Scarlett asked if there was a summary of the funded programs that is included in the Annual
Plan(or somewhere else)that she could share with the other judges. Denise informed her that as part
of the Annual Plan there is a section that includes a printout of the component summary of each funded
program. Stephanie also mentioned that there is a Juvenile Justice Substance Abuse Mental Health
Partnership provider list that can be shared that lists resources for substance abuse and mental health
services.
Consultant Update
No new update on Raise the Age; still in the planning process.
Denise is working with the programs on Program Agreements, getting their applications ready for
approval so that there is no disruption in the July disbursements. There is a new checklist that is being
used as the result of some audit issues to help the consultants assist the programs in cleaning up the
applications, especially with regards to budgets (justifications, showing calculations, etc.).
Denise has also been monitoring programs and getting them up to where they need to be. She has been
working with FAN and is scheduled to meet with Young Warriors next month, and then everyone in
Orange County will be done and should be in compliance with where they need to be for their
monitoring.
Budget revisions for the extra funds are still a work in progress and while they should normally be
executed before spending the additional funds, Denise feels that it is okay to go ahead and spend the
extra funds now. The JCPC has approved it, it is just a matter of paperwork and logistics at this point.
Announcements
Orange County Schools will be hosting their 3rd Annual Health and Wellness Fair on September 22 in
the Walmart parking lot. If anyone would like to set up a table, please email Sherita.
There will be a free screening of the film Resilience from 9:30am to 12:OOpm at Silverspot in Chapel
Hill. It will be an hour screening to be followed by a discussion.
The Campus and Community Collaborative in Chapel Hill is hosting a panel that will be discussing
teens and the risk during summer. It will be tomorrow at Chapel Hill Library from l:00pm to 2:30pm.
There will be interpretation services available.
There will be ribbon cutting ceremony tomorrow at 11:OOam for the Bolin Creek Tunnel. Boomerang
collaborated with a local artist who worked with some of the students.
The County still has funds available in Youth Enhancement Fund to help pay for sport, recreational
activities, and some summer camps for kids.
➢ Next JCPC Meeting: Friday,August 3, 2018; Location: Southern Human Services Center,
2501 Homestead Rd, Chapel Hill NC
