Animal Services Director) <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Anne Marie Tosco (Orange County Attorney) and Lisa Wells <br />_____________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Call to order: <br /> <br />Review and adoption of the Agenda: Michelle Walker made a motion to approve the agenda; seconded by Diane <br />Obeid. The motion carried without dissent. <br /> <br />Summary of May 16, 2018 meeting: Edmund Tiryakian made a motion to approve the minutes as edited; seconded <br />by Michelle Walker. The motion carried without dissent. <br /> <br />Review of public participation guidelines: No public guests present. <br /> <br />Orange County Animal Services Advisory Board Updates <br />(A) County Commissioner appointment of new ASAB members: During the Amanda Schwoerke (effective <br />immediately) will represent Town of Chapel Hill; Evelyn Daniels (effective immediately) will represent Town <br />of Carrboro; and Gina Hahn (effective immediately) will represent Animal Advocate/ Welfare. <br />ASAB Applicants <br />(A) Lisa Wells (retail pet supply sector, Hillsborough): She introduced herself as the operator of Paws at the <br />Corner and spoke about her business in providing local animal supplies. She also volunteers with her <br />therapy dogs. Edmund Tiryakian made a motion to recommend Lisa Wells for ASAB appointment; seconded <br />by Michelle Walker. The motion carried without dissent. <br />(B) Bryan Stuart (Hillsborough): Based on his application and conversation, Molly Mullin made a motion to <br />recommend Bryan Stuart for ASAB appointment; seconded by Michelle Walker. The motion carried without <br />dissent. <br />(C) Vacancies July 1: At-large and Veterinarian <br /> <br />New Business: <br />(A) Select Ordinance Considerations: Bob Marotto introduced the working document to revise the Animal <br />Control Ordinance to include language and other clarification on dangerous animals and other critical <br />issues that need to be given to the BOCC for disposition. Anne Marie Tosco, Orange County Staff <br />Attorney for OCAS, spoke about the revision process. She outlined the proposed changes to the <br />working document by line item. Michelle Walker inquired about the summary of changes and the <br />possibility of administrative action, like a warning. These items will be reviewed thoroughly. <br />Suggestions for edits may be directed to Anne Marie Tosco prior to the August meeting.
