Do the residents appear neat, clean and odor free? Yes 1. Upon our arrival, most of the residents were <br />watching a movie in the community room or <br />taking a bus tour of Chapel Hill Halloween <br />decorations. <br /> <br />5. During our exit interview, Arleen did an <br />excellent job communicating with a memory care <br />resident. The resident was trying to use the <br />phone, take paperwork from staff, and generally <br />being argumentative. Most people would have <br />expressed frustration given the situation but <br />Arleen was very patient and professional. <br />2. Did residents say they receive assistance with personal care <br />activities? Ex. brushing their teeth, combing their hair, inserting <br />dentures or cleaning their eyeglasses? <br />Yes <br />3. Did you see or hear residents being encouraged to participate in <br />their care by staff members? No <br />4. Were residents interacting with staff, other residents & visitors? Yes <br />5. Did residents describe their living environment as homelike? Yes 8. The staff does an excellent job recognizing the <br />personal achievements and individuality of the <br />residents. Most rooms are decorated and <br />common areas full of resident pictures. <br /> <br />9. There was an unusual chemical smell on one <br />floor hallway. It didn’t appear to be hazardous to <br />residents. <br /> <br />10. The kitchen floor was very wet and someone <br />left a mop bucket unattended. There wasn’t a <br />caution sign visible. <br /> <br />14. One resident complained of waiting 90 <br />minutes for a staff member to respond to their call <br />bell. We witnessed the resident push the button <br />and we waited 10 minutes but no staff member <br />arrived. We only witnessed one staff member <br />servicing the second and third floor. <br /> <br />9. Did you notice unpleasant odors in commonly used areas? Yes <br />10.
