6 <br /> 1 Al Hartkopf said there was a concern about uniformed officers doing traffic control, so <br /> 2 they have proposed using volunteers in t-shirts doing traffic control. He said the traffic <br /> 3 checkpoint has been moved to a different location, which that leaves South Cameron St. wide <br /> 4 open. He said additional signage will be added to all intersections to make everything very <br /> 5 clear. <br /> 6 Commissioner Marcoplos asked if the event being held on Sunday, November 4t" is <br /> 7 known. <br /> 8 Al Hartkopf said Sundays in Hillsborough at the Old Courthouse, as well as an event on <br /> 9 the River Park grounds as well. <br /> 10 Commissioner Price asked if the Farmers' Market will be impacted. <br /> 11 Al Hartkopf said they negotiate with the Farmer's Market every year, and try to do <br /> 12 everything they can to not impact it. He said the Farmers' Market expressed desire to be, and <br /> 13 will be, held on Nash St. <br /> 14 Commissioner McKee referred to the map and the non-uniformed personnel directing <br /> 15 traffic, and asked if there will there be signage at Churton and King Streets to direct people for <br /> 16 early voting. <br /> 17 Al Hartkopf said yes, there will be signage going in both directions. He said the south <br /> 18 side can be tricky, and a sign will probably be posted at the Annex. He said from southbound, <br /> 19 there will be a sign at Nash and Collect, and repeat that at Margaret Lane. He said they have <br /> 20 plenty of wayfarer signage. <br /> 21 Commissioner McKee said he would want large signage that will catch residents' <br /> 22 attention, and be very clear. <br /> 23 Al Hartkopf said he agreed, and said that is their plan. <br /> 24 Commissioner Marcoplos said the obstacles to moving the event to Saturday/Sunday do <br /> 25 not seem that difficult. He said the Hillsborough event could fold into Hog Day, and the <br /> 26 volunteers for traffic control could do some of the clean up on Sunday. <br /> 27 Al Hartkopf said the various event Chairs (entertainment, food, crafters, etc.) and the <br /> 28 volunteers were consulted, and this type of shift was not possible. He said no one is available <br /> 29 on Saturday evening and Sunday. <br /> 30 Craig Lloyd said he sent Travis Myren the factors involved for not going to the Sat/Sun <br /> 31 timeframe. <br /> 32 Chair Dorosin asked if the number of expected attendees is known, and where they will <br /> 33 park. <br /> 34 Al Hartkopf said around 7-12,000, and the parking will be in the parking deck behind <br /> 35 Weaver's Street. <br /> 36 Craig Lloyd said Shannon Campbell, from the Town of Hillsborough, has identified every <br /> 37 open public parking spot, which has been posted on the Hog Day website <br /> 38 Chair Dorosin said people will be parking downtown. <br /> 39 Craig Lloyd said yes. <br /> 40 Chair Dorosin clarified that there will be a lot of traffic for this event. <br /> 41 Craig Lloyd said this event may be smaller due to the re-scheduling. <br /> 42 Chair Dorosin asked if November 10 and 11 is possible. <br /> 43 Craig Lloyd said many of their organizers have their own special events on that <br /> 44 weekend. <br /> 45 Commissioner Jacobs asked if anyone has spoken to the Town about using Gold Park <br /> 46 instead of River Park. <br /> 47 Al Hartkopf said no. <br /> 48 Commissioner Jacobs said using Gold Park would allow people to avoid downtown, and <br /> 49 it is a large park. <br />
