Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 6 Corey Williams said he is a Public Information Officer (PIO) for the US Small Business <br /> 7 Administration (SBA) Office of Disaster Assistance. He said Orange County was added to the <br /> 8 list on October 15, 2018 to be eligible for grant assistance because of Hurricane Florence. He <br /> 9 said this allows any resident (business, homeowner, renter, or non-profit) to be eligible for grant <br /> 10 assistance and low interest loans. He said the UCF — UNC game was canceled due to the <br /> 11 hurricane, and the Town of Chapel Hill lost monies from tourism revenue. He said SBA offers <br /> 12 Economic Injury Disaster loans, which provides working capital to business owners to sustain <br /> 13 themselves throughout the recovery period. He said they offer low interest disaster loans to <br /> 14 homeowners, up to $200,000 to repair/replace disaster damaged real estate, and up to $40,000 <br /> 15 to repair/replace disaster damaged personal property. He said the interest rate for home loans <br /> 16 is as low as 2%, and 3.675% for the business loans. He said for all of the loans there is a <br /> 17 minimum one-year deferment. <br /> 18 Carnetta Swann read the following letter: <br /> 19 Dear Board of Commissioners, <br /> 20 The Perry Hills Community Association (PHCA) would like to thank you for approving the funds <br /> 21 for our road improvements and conditions for our subdivision. We would like to give special <br /> 22 recognition to Commissioners Renee Price and Earl McKee for their commitment and quick <br /> 23 response to address out community issues presented at the Village Circles Forum held at the <br /> 24 Efland-Cheeks community center. They personally came to the community to hear and see the <br /> 25 conditions. We also would like to thank the Planning Committee including the Commissioners, <br /> 26 NC Department of Transportation (DOT) District 7 PE, Planning and Inspection Department, <br /> 27 OC Emergency Department, OC Sheriff Department, Community Organizing Consultants, <br /> 28 NCDOT Highway Maintenance Engineer, DOT Traffic Engineer, and other departments that <br /> 29 worked together to expedite the improvements. The following improvements were completed 6 <br /> 30 months ahead of schedule: <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Road Improvements: <br /> 33 • Paylor Street was resurfaced including drainage of ditches, installing pipes, removed <br /> 34 trees and vegetation <br /> 35 • Lancaster Road and Shamblay Road were resurfaced <br /> 36 • Alpha Drive was partly resurfaced and DOT is revising regulations to complete Alpha <br /> 37 and Scarlett Drive <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Thanks to all the departments for working together in making it a priority to respond with such <br /> 40 care that has given our community a facelift and a greater sense of pride. We look forward to <br /> 41 working with you to complete Alpha and Scarlett Drive to make it safer for our school bus routes <br /> 42 and emergency vehicles.
